The Centennial Star Award

Overview:The Centennial Stars will recognize 100 current staff members (beginning in January 2012 through December 2012) who routinely excel in their positions, support the goals and aspirations of the University, and serve as a positive influence on the Rice culture.
Eligibility:
To be considered, the staff member must be in a benefits eligible position for at least 2 years as of January 1, 2012 and be in good standing with no current disciplinary or performance concerns.
Criteria for consideration:
- Has a consistent positive impact on the Rice culture and a demonstrated commitment to his/her job;
- Is active in campus activities outside of the normal scope and function of their position ;
- Has developed programs, processes, and structures that enhance the student, faculty and/or staff experience;
- Strives for the future betterment of Rice, in words and actions, while honoring our unique and diverse history;
- Has had a noticeable impact in making Rice the premier institution and employer that it is today, and has paved the way for future accomplishments of those who will follow;
- Performs his/her duties in a manner that enhances and supports the Rice culture of civility and caring.
Nomination Process:
All levels of staff are eligible for consideration and can be nominated by peers, colleagues, coworkers, or supervisors. Staff may be considered even if they have previously received the Distinguished Employee Award, recognition by the Board of Trustees, the Elizabeth Gillis Award, and/or other school/division/departmental award.
Nominations must be filled out on the Centennial Stars Nomination Form and submitted through senior leadership in school/division.

Award:
Recipients of the Centennial Star Award will receive a certificate and Lucite star award from senior leadership in school/division.
The names of the award recipient will also be featured in the RiceNews and appropriate websites.
