Recognition @ RiceAs a whole, Rice employees spend more than five million hours a year working to improve the university. As co-workers, supervisors, and managers we all have the responsibility to show our appreciation for the hard work that that those around us do. For recognition to be most successful it should include formal, informal, and everyday activities from the annual service award ceremony to a simple thank you note. Please take a moment to review the links in the sidebar for additional information about recognition ideas, techniques, and resources. The Human Resources Department hosts a variety of formal and informal recognition programs including, but not limited to, the Service Award Program and Ceremony, Here's the Scoop (One Year Anniversary Cards), the Distinguished Employee Award, The Elizabeth Gillis Award, the Board of Trustees Recognition Award, Custodian Appreciation Week, and Food Service Appreciation Week. With these programs, the university and the respective departments formally recognize employees for all of their hard work. If you have questions regarding appropriate recognition techniques, have some additional recognition ideas, or would like to share the practices in your department please e-mail us at recognition@rice.edu.
