FLSA Changes 2016
Earlier this year, the Department of Labor announced some changes to provisions in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that may impact some exempt employees in staff, temporary and post-doctoral positions. Effective December 1, 2016, the minimum salary for employees to be exempt from overtime will increase from $455/week ($23,660/year) to $913/week ($47,476/year).
Rice University is developing a plan to comply with the upcoming changes to the FLSA that go into effect December 1, 2016. All staff members who will be affected by the regulatory changes will be notified prior to November 1, 2016.
