As an institution of higher education, learning and ongoing education is important to us. There are several policies that apply to benefits eligible faculty and staff:
Rice University provides eligible dependents of benefits-eligible staff and faculty with a remission of up to eight semesters of undergraduate tuition at Rice. This can also include up to two semesters of an approved study abroad program or tuition at other universities having reciprocal tuition arrangements with Rice. For more information, please see University Policy # 430.
Rice provides benefits eligible faculty, staff, and retirees a tuition waiver for one eligible undergraduate or graduate class per academic semester, the class may be audited or taken for credit. Additionally, all benefits eligible employees and retirees and their spouses or domestic partners may apply to audit one eligible class per academic semester.
For more information on Rice's Tuition Waiver Policy, please see University Policy # 409. Below are links to Tuition Waiver Application Forms:

- Spouse/Domestic Partner Application for Spouse/Partner Tuition Waiver/Audit
Please fill out the appropriate form for each class that you are seeking to waiver or audit and collect all authorizing signatures.
Course registration is facilitated through the Office of the Registrar. For instructions on how to register for Rice courses using Tuition Waiver or Audit benefits, visit the Course Registration for Benefits-Eligible Employees page on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
All benefits eligible faculty and staff may apply for tuition reimbursement for classes at other institutions. Tuition Reimbursement will cover 75% of tuition and fees up to $2,500 per fiscal year. There is no course limit per semester, but employees must earn a grade C or better on courses taken for credit. Certain classes within the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, the Jones School of Business, and Rice Summer School are also eligible for tuition reimbursement.
Additionally, Tuition Reimbursement will cover 100% of the cost of General Education Development (GED) courses and exam fees.
