Rice University has strict enrollment deadlines. The following chart details the enrollment deadlines:

For new hires benefits are effective the first of the month following hire date. If the hire date is the first of the month, then the benefits are effective on the hire date. Most changes in status result in coverage effective on the first day of the month following the date the change is made (or that day, if the first business day of the month).
If the change in status is the birth or adoption of a child, coverage will be made effective as the date of the birth or adoption.
Changes made during annual enrollment in April are effective July 1st with the new plan year.
