New Hire Orientation
New employees at Rice University are invited to attend new
hire orientation, typically held twice a month, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The
orientation includes a history of the university, various campus policies
relevant to staff, speakers from benefits and Disability Support Services, and
a walking tour of the campus. Orientation ends with lunch at one of the campus
serveries.
About a week before the orientation date, supervisors will
receive an e-mail to let them know that their new employee is scheduled to
attend orientation on that given date. If there is a time conflict or the new
employee is unable to attend, the supervisor should respond to the e-mail at
that time and reschedule orientation for a later date. A few days prior to the
orientation date, the new employee will receive an e-mail about the new hire
orientation, where it will be held (a campus map with the location of the
building highlighted) and what to expect during the orientation.
